Administration and Social Networks: my bet for 2011


The other day I was reading the document Predictions for 2011 on social networks Administration and published by the Generalitat de Catalunya. It some experts in communication, technology, social innovation, etc. give their opinion on what trends will be next year.

I congratulate each of them for the contributions made but I would like to highlight some of them especially in the view of Simon Collister is likely to disappear funding opportunities for innovations (....) be the great challenge for the government to step up and fund public services using web 2.0 technology . Roc Fages indicates that the Administration should know how to choose wisely where to aim their bets 2.0, (...) being the best bet the inner . Tona Pou not very optimistic as regards the progress of social networks while Dolors Reig indicates that opens a contradictory period, with some authorities aware of the importance of coexisting with other network that deny their seriously. Finally, to Isabel Troytiño first thing to ask is what does the Administration do regarding social networks.

I can not agree more with Elizabeth. Although the technology trend is unstoppable, begin to look past the early stages of noise and chaos that often accompany any process of adopting new innovations and the outlook has to be clarified .

In that sense I think the big challenge for public authorities on social media is to be able to determine how the social web tools can and can not support a strategic approach previously established, more innovation in areas such as internal or open government communication in the same production of public value (services, regulation, authority, etc.).. To do this, must first have a strategy in some of these fields, and second, we must analyze where we can provide this support, third, to reflect whether it will be necessary or not, its benefits and drawbacks, and fourth sub-strategy to define a social network deployment incardinated into the main strategy.

Do these conditions exist in 2011? I think there are elements to be pessimistic, at least for next year. First, because there are elections in most of the English public authorities where the application of these tools is easier (CCAA and Local Bodies). Campaign is a collaboration of groups skeptical volunteers, in order to sensitize the public about the reality of homeopathy: how can be shown not to work, how impossible to work, and why it is important information about the treatment when making decisions about your own health or that of others.
10:23 Completion Challenge is scheduled for February 2011, during the conference QED in Manchester, with a concentration in which more than 300 people demonstrating against homeopathy.
The Challenge also wants to show global unity against this pseudoscience, so you are invited participants from over 10 countries and more than 23 cities with the aim of bringing together more than 1023 people during the weekend of 5 and 6 February to show that homeopathy is no cure or anything .

From Skeptics in the pub León, we also join the proposal and I invite everyone to join us in our suicide.
