Last week I told you what was in my view some of the key factors to consider when talking about innovation in the public sector . Well a few days later (via Blog Xavier Marcet ) I've known the document Innovation in Government prepared by the nonprofit organization Partnership for Public Service and consultancy IDEO.
Although this is a publication focused on the U.S. administration and this administration is very different from the continental as ours, I think there are some aspects that can make us profitable reflection, most of them the commented on my post the other day :
- Why is it necessary innovation management? Basically the importance of public service it provides, by its size in the economy of a country and what that tractor for innovation in the private sector can assume .
- What types of innovation can occur in the administration? I would say that two in particular: an adaptation of a proven concept to a new context and develop something new. The other comment that (improve something already done) I would place it more in the field of modernization.
- Why is innovation in management so difficult? Just because the administration is different from private enterprise. What can seen in the statements issued by public employees surveyed for the report.
- How to overcome previous barriers? Basically creating ecosystems (processes and infrastructure) of innovation in areas that by their nature, types of people involved, social, etc. conditions are most suitable. From here use technology and innovation prescribers to be emerging to disseminate a new culture of innovation in the organization.
